Columbia River Day Trips
Targets: Smallmouth bass, shad, carp and juvenile sturgeon April through October
Cost: $450 for one or two anglers
Duration: 6-8 hours
Tired of crowded trout streams? Haven’t seen your backing in a while? Skookum Outfitters is proud to be one of the only fly fishing guide services offering trips on the Columbia in the scenic Columbia River Gorge. This is a great way to get your saltwater flats ‘fix,’ or practice for an upcoming saltwater trip.
Anglers of all skill levels will enjoy productive fishing for smallmouth bass, while more experienced anglers will have opportunities to spot and stalk carp and juvenile sturgeon in two to four feet of water. Opportunities to swing flies for hard-hitting shad exist from late-May through the end of July. We fish out of a boat as much as possible, but some of the best opportunities present themselves when we exit the boat to approach our targets on foot.
Comfortable wading gear is a must. Wind and cloud cover determine the angling dates and locations on the Columbia. Flies and tackle provided. Rods available upon request, although we encourage anglers to fish their own outfits.
Not included in cost of trip: lunch, fishing license(s), wading equipment.
